Something a little different tonight. "Got Jeans" was shot using two speedlights. Black fabric taped up for the background. You don't always need fancy studio equipment to make a nice portrait. Of course, having the right model helps. My only nitpick with this photo is that the panty strap is twisted (bet you noticed it right away - right). Speedlights are fine for indoor shooting when you don't need to put out a lot of power. If you use a softliter umbrella (google for it) you can create some soft light. The softliter umbrella is also very portable and is perfect for travel. The 60" umbrella is great. The only issue is that you almost have to use your flash in manual mode (the flash goes inside the covering of the umbrella which makes it impossible to fire the flash in ETTL. I use pocketwizards and they are excellent. Plus working in manual gives you consistency in your flash output.
This photo was converted to black and white in Photoshop. Not much else was done.
